概况

　　江阴古称暨阳，简称澄，素有“延陵古邑”“春申旧封”“忠义之邦”“江尾海头”之称。城不在大，在于山有势、水有灵，物有来历、人有精神。

　　Jiangyin was called Jiyang in ancient times, or Cheng for short. It is known as "Ancient Yanling Town", "Old Seal of Chunshen", "A State of Loyalty and Righteousness" and "Jiangwei Haitou". The city is not big, but the mountains have power, water has spirit, things have origins, and people have spirit.

　　江阴，吴文化发端之地，拥有7000年人类生息史、5000年文明史、3800年筑城史、2500年文字记载史和1700余年建县史。高城墩、祁头山、南楼、佘城遗址4个重大考古新发现， 370余处历代文物遗存，近百处各级文保单位，110项市级以上非物质文化遗产代表性项目，见证了江阴是良渚文化重要的发祥地之一。

All above have witnessed Jiangyin is one of the important birthplaces of Liangzhu culture.

　　江阴，英才辈出之地，自古为泰伯化育之邦、季子躬耕之邑，涌现了战国时期的春申君黄歇，明代著名的地理学家徐霞客，清代著名中医学家柳宝诒、“近代图书馆之父”缪荃孙、五四新文化运动先驱刘半农、国乐大师刘天华、二胡演奏家刘北茂、佛学家巨赞法师、“中国商父”盛宣怀、中国社会学创始人吴文藻、电影表演艺术家上官云珠、“书坛泰斗”沈鹏、著名音乐指挥家曹鹏等一大批杰出人物，以及近百名大学校长、近20名两院院士和40多位共和国将军。

　　江阴，枕山负水之地，北倚长江，中环青山，南濒太湖，古运河穿城而过。总面积987平方公里，常住人口165万人；辖有10个镇、7个街道办事处、1个国家级高新区、2个省级经济开发区。气候宜人，四季分明，年平均气温16℃左右，年降雨量1100毫米左右。拥有国家4A级旅游区2个，星级旅游酒店9家。这里既有 “天下第一村”华西村、欧风小镇海澜飞马水城；又有吴韵楚风，老街依旧，小桥流水，烟雨轻柔……

　　江阴，文化彬盛之地，作为中国现代民族音乐一代宗师刘天华的故乡，江阴历来重视民族音乐的传承与发展，建有18支国乐社和数十个民间民乐队，锡剧票友、二胡表演和锡剧演唱活动覆盖城乡。大力推进实施二胡、锡剧、书法进校园，学校“二胡班”“小锡班”累计培训学员12000多人。天华艺术团15次进京演出，25次亮相中央电视台，出访欧亚10个国家和地区；“小锡班”参加央视大舞台表演10次。举办“介居杯”江阴市首届新人书法、美术作品展，承办江苏省第十二届新人书法篆刻作品展览。

Tianhua Art Troupe has performed in Beijing 15 times, appeared on CCTV 25 times, and visited 10 countries and regions in Europe and Asia; "Little Wuxi Opera Class" participated in CCTV stage performances 10 times.
